11-16-09-NFL Week 10. Last night on NBC, they had possibly the best game of the 2009 NFL season so far. Tom Brady and the New England Patriots against Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts. The Patriots dominated this game all night long until late in the fourth quarter. They had a 34-21 lead with about 6 minutes left.

The Colts cut the Patriots' lead to 34-28. With 2:08 left in the game, the Pats had a fourth-and-2 on their own 28 yard line. But Patriots' coach Bill Belichick made possibly the worst decision of his NFL coaching career. Instead of punting the ball away and making Peyton Manning and the Colts have to go the length of the field (assuming there was not a run back or anything), he decided to go for the first down. And it back-fired...BIG TIME!

On fourth down, Tom Brady passed the ball to Kevin Faulk, but Faulk bobbled the ball and was driven back and didn't get the first down. Turn over on downs. This gave Peyton Manning and the Colts the ball on the New England Patriots' 28 yard line. Peyton marched the Colts in for a game-winning touchdown pass to Reggie Wayne. Colts 35, Patriots 34. Today Bill Belichick is feeling the heat from the Boston newspapers. What makes me laugh is reading some of the Patriots' fans on the ESPN message boards. They want Belichick fired immediately as the head coach of the New England Patriots.

Here is Belichick's quote after the game. "We tried to win the game on that play," Belichick explained. "I thought we could make the yard. We had a good play, we completed it. I don't know how we couldn't get a yard." "It's a bummer," Patriots quarterback Tom Brady said.

In a way, I kind of agree with Belichick's decision to go for it on fourth down. If the Patriots get the first down on that play, they win the ball game..period. I think that Belichick didn't want the ball in Peyton Manning's hands with 2 minutes left. That's why he went for it. That is what you call respect for Manning. But, for today anyway, the Patriots' fans want Bill run out of town!

Some of the player stats from this game were ridiculous. Tom Brady passed for 375 yards, with 3 touchdowns and 1 interception. Wide receiver Randy Moss had 9 catches for 179 yards and 2 touchdowns. Wes Welker had 9 catches for 94 yards. For the Colts, Peyton Manning passed for 327 yards, with 4 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. Colts' wide receiver Reggie Wayne had 10 catches for 126 yards and 2 touchdowns.
